7/2/2023 0 Comments Hearts vex card game![]() ![]() But it almost seems like the remakes in the KH series are really meant for people who have played the original versions of them, and not necessarily intended for newcomers. For me, seeing as I have either played or watched or essentially know the entire series, ReCoM is my choice because it further establishes the world of the series. ReCoM completely ruins these reveals, whether they be story reveals or like the thing I just mentioned about waiting to play as Sora. So not seeing or playing as CGI Sora until KH2 (I won't even bring up the voice acting difference if you play KH1 and then ReCoM) is much more suspenseful and then rewarding when you finally get behind the wheel, so to speak. Obviously, story wise it is the same Sora but like the player to game connection is different. Even though you play as him in both versions of CoM, it is not the Sora we know, but a small sprite version. Fight, fight, fight!" You have no idea who it is until he says, "You know, Axel." He takes off his hood, and you're like, "Yo, it's Axel from Chain of Memories!" Same with Namine the first time we see her in KH2 (besides the opening cinematic) is from far away, and then a close-up of her mouth, and you're like, "Wait, is that Namine? Shit, that's totally her." A similar idea comes from playing as Sora. Like, imagine you're playing KH2, and Axel enters with hood up, "All right, Roxas. So, when we meet them in KH2, it is like meeting people that we've "heard so much about." We don't really get introduced to them unil KH2. So, yes we meet Axel and Namine and the cloaked figures and DiZ but they are in sprite form on this small screen with no voice acting. By its very nature, the game was more understated in that all you had access to visually were sprites and GBA animations. We meet these characters as their fully realized iterations before KH2.īack in the day, if you played the games as they came out, you HAD to play CoM on the GBA. We see all of the characters in their fully CGI (albeit PS2 graphics) form, we hear their voices, we know this world. Also it has better graphics - it's a fully realized version. ReCoM seems like the obvious answer my friend already technically has it on his copy. But my question is: which version? GBA or PS2 (or, in this case, PS3)? But as he approaches the end of the game, my concern becomes: what next? I am currently getting my buddy who is a super casual player to play Kingdom Hearts and he digs it! He's still on the KH1FM on the HD remix. I haven't been playing video games much in the past few years, but Kingdom Hearts always has a special place in my heart. Hey, everybody! So, funny story, I haven't posted in this forum in like 4 years but I have been brought out of retirement because I have a question and there seems to be no opinions on the matter anywhere on the Internet (shocking). ![]() 7/2/2023 0 Comments Marshall stack menu![]() Gain, Volume and Tone controls are in a line, with a red LED (to show Boost or Normal channel 'on'), there's a stereo jack socket for the two-way footswitch (supplied with the amp), then 'Normal channel' volume, treble, middle and bass pots. These provide a single jack input, followed by pots for the 'Boost' (overdrive) channel. The front panel features the usual illuminated Marshall mains switch, plus a twin-channel arrangement of controls. ![]() The back panel sports six ¼" jack sockets two for effects send and return, one for connection to a mixer (provided with a variable output control, enabling you to send exactly the signal required to your mixer - a very good idea, of course) plus two speaker outlets, allowing cabs from 4 to 6 ohms to be connected. Again it's beautifully built, but much lighter than the equivalent valve unit. The new Marshall head is unusual in several respects. On the road, this reputation for reliability (never mind Marshall's sound quality!) has kept them at the forefront since the 1960s - and they obviously refuse to compromise their own legend. The slope-fronted and straight 4x10 cabs were both to their usual ultra-high woodworking quality, and the head was built like a Marshall always is. In a world where trash seems to be increasingly common, Marshall stand out like renegades with their integrity, and refuse to compromise their legendary build quality for the sake of convenience - and that applies just as much to this 'mini-stack' as it does their full-size models. Marshall products continuously represent traditional British engineering values at their absolute best. Even small saloon car owners should be able to carry their Compact Stacks with no problems - the weight is considerably less than that of a normal twin 4x12 arrangement, the size ditto. At the other end of our journey, the light weight and smaller size of the stack made for very easy transportation. One 4x10 fitted snugly in the average-sized boot, the other, plus the head, went on the back seat, with no difficulties at all. To give you an idea of the transportation ease which this smaller package affords, we collected our sample Compact Stack in a non-hatchback Alfasud. ![]() Two major factors differentiate this stack from the classic Marshall set-up, the first being that the amp uses a MOS-FET power amp stage (not valves - but not traditional bi-polar transistors, either), the second being that the cabs house those excellent Celestion 10" 35-watt rated speakers, as opposed to the traditional Celestion 12" types. ![]() ![]() That answer is the brand new Marshall 'Compact Stack', recently launched in their booming export markets (where it's already a top seller) and shortly to be appearing on the U.K. Their reputation being founded on unequalled valve heads and 4x12s, it's only natural that Marshall, of all makers, should have come up with an answer for guitarists who want a stack, but either can't afford or can't physically transport a traditional valve head and two 4x12s. Unfortunately, the component and manufacturing costs of a traditional valve amp are such that prices are beginning to be prohibitive for many younger players, and the size of a standard 4x12 (let alone two of them) poses obvious transport problems. However powerful a modern 1x12 100 watt combo sounds, the sheer spread of muscle power from eight speakers in two cabs cannot easily be equalled. Recent years, for example, have seen the growth in popularity of high-powered combos, while (at the same time) heavy metal players have gone in the opposite direction, towards employing increasing numbers of valve stacks - often used as a macho cosmetic adornment of their stage sets!īut still the 'stack' has a strong appeal, and not all of it just for show, either. There's no doubt that fashion affects tastes in amp formats, just as it does every aspect of music - from playing styles to the actual gear we use. ![]() 7/2/2023 0 Comments Bridge bsc to matic![]() ![]() Help! Since casting spells does drain your Stamina, though, you will want to make sure that you have enough to work your way through your rotation. Vigor is slightly less important (if you’re very confident in your ability to dodge and survive, that is), but you’ll probably want at least 20 points in it fairly early on. Stat-wise, you’re obviously going to want to focus on Intelligence and Mind in order to ensure you have the FP and power needed to get the most out of your spells, but do not overlook your Vigor and Endurance. You can certainly go with more of a sword-based “melee build” that will perform well, but there’s at least one other class that I think is better equipped for that style of play. I’m opting for more of a pure Mage build with the Astrologer. These are not the “only” ways to build your character. If you need more information, this guide will help you better understand how certain stat thresholds impact your character’s growth. How, exactly, you plan to distribute those stats depends on where you’re at in the game, what gear/spells you’re working towards being able to use, and what specific situations call for. You won’t find a full breakdown of specific stat points in this guide, as its much more important to ensure that you’re leveling the “right” stats for your build along the way.So far as that goes, there are a few points I should clarify before diving into this guide: While I really need to emphasize that one of the best ways to play Elden Ring is to experiment with the various character build options made available to you until you eventually find the style that not only works “best” but works best for you, it’s certainly possible to follow a general “roadmap” for building your character that will help you get the most out of them and ensure that you’re maximizing every stat point you get to spend and every item you acquire along the way. After all, Elden Ring may allow you to build a character pretty much however you’d like, but there are some classes that are able to reach those endgame playstyles quicker and more efficiently than others. It won’t be long into your Elden Ring adventure before you start thinking about leveling up your character and finding the best build for your starting class. ![]() 7/2/2023 0 Comments Log flume ride physics![]() ![]() The Log Flume Ride, the only such amusement ride on the West Coast at the time, was perhaps the best-known attraction. The track required some 46,000 pounds of rail, and the train reportedly used 700 pounds of coal and 300 gallons of water each operating day. Little Pixie-a three-car, 1890s-style steam locomotive originally named Little Toot-took passengers on a mile-long ride atop the dike that surrounded the park. Scones were sold at Fisher’s Scone, a round building topped with a Scottish tam made of fiberglass and measuring thirty-two feet in diameter. In addition to the Darigold Barn, where ice cream was sold, attractions included Arcade Amusements, the Blue Bell Opera House, the Phillips Candy Kitchen, and the Franz Rest Bread Hut, where visitors could watch the Log Flume Ride. Governor Tom McCall dedicated the park on June 28, and a plaque reading “Dedicated to the families of Oregon” was erected on the park’s main street. Pixieland, which Parks described as a “Fairytale Story of Oregon,” opened on May 15, 1969. The final cost of the park was an estimated $2 million. To finance the project, Parks received a $250,000 Small Business Administration loan and offered 500,000 shares of stock at a dollar a share, which sold out in an in-state offering in three weeks. He hired two people who had worked at Disneyland to help design and build the park and to oversee its operation. ![]() In 1966, he told the Lincoln City News Guard that Pixieland would include “pioneer-type buildings,” train rides, and a larger restaurant. He purchased 57 acres of Salmon River wetlands in 1964 and spent $300,000 diking, draining, and filling the land. The Pixie Kitchen was so popular that Jerry Parks decided to build an amusement park. The restaurant’s slogan was “Heavenly Food on the Oregon Coast.” Placemats folded into pixie hats, the menus had pixies scampering over the page, and there were surprise candy treats for children. Funhouse mirrors framed the entrance, and the dining room’s large windows looked out on the Pixie Garden, a fantasyland of pixies in a motorized diorama. Under the Parks’ management, the restaurant became a well-known coastal eatery that focused on affordable meals and a fairytale-themed décor. Gallagher, who had opened it in 1948 as Pixie Pot Pie, a take-home pie service. Jerry and Lu Parks opened the restaurant on May 21, 1953, purchasing it from T.C. Pixieland grew out of the success of the Pixie Kitchen, a seafood restaurant on Highway 101 in Wecoma Beach (now part of Lincoln City). The park, which operated from 1969 to 1975, was a major regional tourist attraction known for its colorful décor, fun rides, and other amusements that catered to children. However, many took note of the log’s slow-moving trail throughout the mountain ranges and saw there was potential to “re-invent the wheel,” so to speak - specifically, the engineering company Arrow Development, a company dedicated to developing amusement park attractions.Pixieland was a short-lived but popular amusement park on the Oregon Coast northeast of Lincoln City, between the Salmon River and Highway 18. Thus the seeds for this timeless American attraction were planted.Īs technology continued to advance, the need for these flume systems quickly diminished. They stated this was to provide constant inspections on their progress, however, it is rumored that there was a minor thrill element involved in this as well. In fact, many of these workers would hop into a log themselves and give the flumes a proper ride-through. Developed in the late 1800s, lumberjacks created a complex system of wooden flumes that used a steady flowing stream of water to deliver the wood to the proper sawmill. ![]() This need for innovation inspired America’s first log flume system. Even the brawliest of the lumberjacks would have a difficult time making constant treks to deliver said timber on a daily basis. A popular contender during these times was the lumber industry, which often relied on the lush ecosystem in the western mountains.ĭue to the rough and steep terrain, it was nearly impossible for lumber workers to transport large amounts of wood back and forth. Thus, many had to take a cold hard look towards new industries to make a profit. Where some settlers found bountiful fortunes, others were left with nothing but the scraps. However, the sheer demand for gold was outweighed by the vast amount of settlers competing for a slice of the action. ![]() Interestingly enough, the history of these attractions doesn’t come from the minds of theme park engineers, but from the rustic frontier of America’s booming lumber industry.ĭuring one of America’s most notable moments in history, the Gold Rush inspired thousands of pioneers to flock to California. ![]() ![]() ![]() Host transport-sync'd punch in and out when recording. It can even automatically clear the loop for you once it's faded out.
